Coffee Grind Size Guide

The most important variable in coffee brewing. Get grind size right and everything else becomes easier.

Grind size is arguably the most critical variable in coffee brewing. It directly controls extraction—how much flavor the water pulls from the coffee.

Why Grind Size Matters

When coffee meets water, soluble compounds dissolve and become your cup of coffee. The rate at which this happens depends primarily on surface area—and surface area is controlled by grind size.
